# Is Lovable SEO friendly?

> Bring your Lovable app’s live URL. Check which stack it runs on (apps created from 13 May 2026 are server-rendered, older ones get prerendered HTML for verified crawlers), run Lovable’s own SEO review, then spend your time on what no builder does for you: pages that answer real buyer questions, facts that match everywhere, and measuring whether ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity name you. You don’t need to leave Lovable or rebuild.

## The short answer

Yes, for the technical part, and much more than a year ago. Lovable now handles the three things that used to sink vibe-coded sites: new apps render on the server, older apps are prerendered for verified crawlers, and a built-in SEO review fixes most head-tag and sitemap problems with one click ([Lovable docs, “Optimize your app for SEO and AI search”](https://docs.lovable.dev/features/seo-aeo), read 15 Oct 2026). On both stacks, Lovable also serves a Markdown version of a page to any client that asks for Markdown.

What Lovable can’t do is decide which pages your site needs, write the sentence an assistant will quote, or tell you whether ChatGPT names you. That is where most Lovable sites stall now.

## Which Lovable app do you have?

| Your app | What bots receive | What to watch |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Created from 13 May 2026 (22 June 2026 on Enterprise) | TanStack Start: server-rendered HTML on every request | Browser-only libraries can break server rendering on a page |
| Older React + Vite app on Lovable hosting | Prerendered HTML, but only for verified crawlers (Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, social previews, verified SEO tools); everyone else gets the single-page app | Content that loads late may be missing from the prerendered copy |
| Older app exported and hosted elsewhere | Whatever your new host serves: Lovable’s docs describe prerendering on its own hosting only | Usually you need server rendering or prerendering yourself |

You can move an older app to TanStack Start from the chat’s `/` menu (“Migrate to TanStack Start”) or Project settings. Lovable says most upgrades cost 10 to 35 credits, nothing changes on the live site until you publish, and you can roll back from version history ([Lovable docs, “Upgrade to TanStack Start”](https://docs.lovable.dev/features/upgrade-to-tanstack-start), read 15 Oct 2026). Test every page afterwards: Lovable warns that browser-only libraries can break in ways its checks miss.

## Test it in one minute

An example; replace the domain with yours:

```bash
# 1. Words in the raw HTML
curl -s https://yourapp.com/ | sed 's/<[^>]*>/ /g' | wc -w
# 2. The Markdown copy Lovable serves on request
curl -s -H "Accept: text/markdown" https://yourapp.com/ | head -20
# 3. Does an AI search bot get through?
curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n" \
  -A "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; OAI-SearchBot/1.0)" https://yourapp.com/
```

What good looks like: hundreds of words in test 1 for a new app (an older app shows few, because curl isn’t a verified crawler, so use Search Console’s live test instead), readable headings in test 2, and `200` in test 3. A `403` means something in front of the site is blocking bots; see [Cloudflare blocking AI crawlers](https://katman.pro/cloudflare-blocking-ai-crawlers) or run the [AI crawler checker](https://katman.pro/tools/ai-crawler-checker).

## What Lovable’s SEO review covers, and what it leaves

The review lives under More → Analytics → SEO & AI, on all plans. It checks the sitemap, robots.txt, metadata, Open Graph, structured data, headings, alt text, canonicals, indexing and AI readiness. Two details: Lovable creates a robots.txt with every project but doesn’t always create a sitemap, and it doesn’t flag a missing llms.txt.

| The review handles | Still on you |
| --- | --- |
| Sitemap, robots.txt and the `Sitemap:` line | Which pages exist: one per buyer situation, not one per feature |
| Duplicate titles, weak descriptions, canonicals that point at the homepage | A first paragraph that answers the page’s question on its own |
| Open Graph, structured data, headings, alt text | The same facts (what you are, price, who it’s for) on every page |
| Search Console connection and a sitemap check | Whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok name you |

## What’s left: pages, facts, measurement

1. **List 10 to 12 questions buyers ask an assistant**, without your brand in them, in their words.
2. **Give each question a page.** The H1 is the question; the first two sentences answer it. On our sample site, 59% of ChatGPT visitors landed on two such pages (own measurement, human sessions, 21 to 27 September 2026; one sample site, our own product: see the [case study](https://katman.pro/case-studies/sample-site-first-7-days)).
3. **Fix your facts once.** One sentence that says what you are, the same price everywhere, and a “not that product” line if your name collides with another.
4. **Measure every 14 days.** Ask the same questions logged out and write down who gets named: [how to check if ChatGPT recommends your site](https://katman.pro/check-if-chatgpt-recommends-your-site).

A prompt you can paste into Lovable’s chat, for an invented dog-walking app:

```text
Add a page at /dog-walker-for-reactive-dogs. H1: "Can I book a dog walker
for a reactive dog?" The first two sentences answer yes or no, say how our
walkers handle reactive dogs, and give the price per walk shown on /pricing.
Add 5 FAQ items in plain HTML, link the page from the home page and the
footer, and add it to sitemap.xml. Accept when: curl of the page shows the
H1 and both sentences.
```

## What Katman does on a Lovable site

Connect Lovable to GitHub (Project settings → Git → GitHub; Lovable creates a private repo and syncs both ways) and open the repo in Cursor, Claude Code or another MCP client. `katman_scan_code` reports the stack and whether pages render on the server; `katman_audit_site` reads the live pages the way AI crawlers do; `katman_page_brief` turns each buyer question into a brief your coding tool or Lovable’s chat can build; `katman_visibility_run` asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok your questions on your own OpenRouter key, about $2.40 a run on the default panel. Katman doesn’t edit your site: Lovable or your coding tool makes every change. Katman Pro is $99 a month for up to 3 sites, with fix prompts and page briefs uncapped. Or have us do it: [Growth](https://katman.pro/done-for-you) writes 30 pages a month for you. [How Katman works](https://katman.pro/mcp).

What it can’t do: for an older Lovable app, the audit sees what curl sees, not the copy Lovable shows verified crawlers, so confirm rendering with Search Console. And nobody can promise an assistant will recommend you.

## Who this is not for

- Lovable apps behind a login: Lovable says restricted-access and unpublished projects don’t appear in search anyway.
- A Lovable site that Google hasn’t indexed yet: the Search Console steps are on the Lovable Google indexing page.
- Anyone who wants a promise of rankings or AI mentions: nobody can make one.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need Prerender.io for a Lovable site?

Not on Lovable hosting. Lovable’s docs say projects it hosts don’t need an external prerendering service: new apps are server-rendered and older ones are prerendered for verified crawlers (read 15 Oct 2026).

### Should I upgrade my old Lovable app to TanStack Start?

If tools that aren’t verified crawlers matter to you, yes: server rendering sends finished HTML to everyone. Lovable says most upgrades cost 10 to 35 credits, and the live site stays as it is until you publish again.

### Why does curl show an almost empty page on my Lovable site?

If the app was created before 13 May 2026, curl gets the single-page app, because Lovable sends the prerendered copy only to verified crawlers. Search Console’s URL inspection live test shows what Googlebot really gets.

### Does Lovable create an llms.txt file?

No. Lovable says llms.txt isn’t required and its review doesn’t flag a missing one; if your project already has one, Lovable keeps serving it. If you add one, it must repeat your pages’ facts exactly.

### Is Lovable’s SEO review enough to get recommended by ChatGPT?

It covers the technical gate. Being named also takes pages that answer the questions buyers ask and a way to check what assistants say, and the review does neither.
